How long does therapy last?

How long therapy lasts is a personal decision. You may want a break or you may feel like you’ve accomplished what you needed to. Both are valid reasons to discontinue therapy. Consequently, there are therapy interventions that are meant to be brief (4-8 sessions) or shorter term (10-15 sessions). If a short term approach is wanted or required, that’s something we can discuss and explore together.

What if I want to work on my marriage but my partner does not?

This isn’t uncommon and I encourage you to still come in. Doing couples work individually can still be very powerful and beneficial for yourself, as well as your relationship. Your partner is welcome to join at any time, however if they never do, that’s okay as well.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. But I can support you in finding a professional with whom you can explore a medication regime. Medications do not have to be forever, however they can assist you in managing specific mental health symptoms, which in turn serves as a tool to support you in being successful in your day to day life.

Will you tell other people what I say to you?

No I will not. In order for me to speak with other parties (i.e. a psychiatrist, physician, case manager, social worker, another therapist, family, etc.) I have to have a Release of Information signed by you. Even then, I won’t be disclosing everything. Only what will be helpful for them to know and what will support your engagement with them.

Do you see young children?

No. Unfortunately, small children are not my demographic. However, I am willing to see children age 13 and up; as long as their parents/guardians are willing to participate in routine family sessions.

Do you have to bill my insurance?

No. Paying out of pocket is an option via credit card, debit card, HSA, and FSA.
